The last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) confirmed Surrey as one of the world’s leading research centers, with 88% of the University’s research activity rated ‘world class’ or ‘internationally recognized’. Four areas of research activity were placed in the top ten, and a total of nine areas were ranked in the top 20. Notably in the 2008 RAE, 95% of the School of Biomedical & Molecular Sciences research was awarded top ratings, the highest of any UK University.
